Contract Disputes Act of 1978

The Contract Disputes Act of 1978 (41 U.S.C. 601 et seq.) revised the disputes procedure and established a number of requirements for government contract claims. It is important for contractors to note that the Act permits the contractor to recover interest on claims and establishes durations for government processing of claims and for filing appeals from Contracting Officer Decisions. The essence of the Disputes Act is set forth in Part 33.2 of the FAR.
